Night curfew brings Tollywood film shoots
With the Telangana government imposing night curfew across the state till May 1, film shootings of several big ticket Tollywood releases have come to a grinding halt. The shooting of films like Radhe Shyam, Pushpa, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Acharya and F3 have been stalled until further notice, in light of the spike in COVID-19 cases. While most films have been shooting with a minimal crew, night curfew restrictions are likely to have an impact on them, say producers. Producer Y Ravi Shankar, who’s bankrolling Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa and Mahesh Babu-starrer Sarkaru Vaari Paata, says, “The industry is going through some tough times and while the government’s decision to impose night curfew is welcome due to the current circumstances, it’s not going to make things easier for us. We still need to seek clarity from the government as to what this means for night shoots. If we’re shooting with a crew at night, we can’t suddenly send them out on the streets till 5 am and then take them back in. So until May 1, we have decided to stop all night shoots for our films.”
