Valmiki Director says - No change in title
Varun Tej starrer Valmiki was recently landed in a legal case by the members of a Boya community stating that their caste has been offended by the film 'Valmiki'. Since the great sage Valmiki was a Boya, using his name as the title for a film based on the life of a gangster (played by Varun Tej) was disliked by the Boya Community.
They have approached the court, saying that the makers of the soon-to-be-released film should be prevented from using the title. They have filed a petition in the High Court, which has since issued notices to DGP, the Censor Board, Film Chamber, actor Varun Tej and the film's producers.
Director Harish Shankar said there will not be any change in the title. They have not offended the community by putting this title, he asserts. He asks the community to watch the film before drawing to the conclusions. The film will release on September 20.
