Vasanth (Aari) is a painter who works for a horror series and one day, his friend Kamal is intrigued to call out to the spirit, which the writer had prohibited his audience from following. Soon there arises a surprise where the people have encountered a interesting incident which trashes all the logics of the science. The lead actor in the series is named Maya and then the boss of Vasanth, Mr. Ram (Amzath), who is the husband of Vasanth's ex lover comes into the scene. Mayuri (Nayanthara), on the other hand is a struggling actress, a single mother with a lot of debts and a toddler to handle.

What is the purpose of Maya's spirit?
What happens at the end?
The answers for these questions will form the rest of the story.
Ups and Downs
REVIEW on Mayuri
Easily, 'Mayuri' will be a milestone in Nayanthara's career. The senior actress has almost always donned romantic roles, has emoted her best in this movie. The scene where she comes seeking a role to act, is a standalone classic. Definitely she is going to make a change in the mindset of other actresses too. For Aari, the role is that of practical man, with a not-so-practical lifestyle. However, he has carried the role well enough. Amzath has performed well in the supporting role. Robo Shankar plays a small role in the film, which makes for the only track on the lighter side.
Mayuri is a very good Horror flick that has it’s brilliant horrific moments needed for a Horror film. The movie also doesnt have any Blood,Gore or Sleazy makeups and scary faces but with BGM and the scene playing, your heart will sure skip a beat.Watch out for Brilliant direction of Ashwin Saravan and the credible acting of Nayanthara. The film will surely appeal to the audiences and it will be one of the best film in the career of Nayanathara. The film has countable characters and each of them have come up with laudable performances. As expected, Nayantara delivers yet another powerful act.
The music is extraordinary. The music and cinematography of the film is so good that they will amuse you as the director Ashwin Saravan works out a brilliant screenplay to keep you engrossed till the end. As said earlier, the Cinematography that brings real Spine-chilly feel to the film and BGM by RonYohaan will just explode your fear in some specific scenes. They have redefined a new formula for the films that falls in this genre. The visual effects and the tone are also brilliant. The director has done a wonderful job in coordinating all the crafts. Mayuri is definitely one of the most spooky horror films yet. But despite all the good effort, the film does iron out and fall straight in the face as a drama.
On a whole, Mayuri cannot be categorized with some of the other horror flicks that released in the recent past. This film's sole intention is to scare you and the debutant director Ashwin Saravanan has managed to do that pretty convincingly. The film certainly does magic and have a new flavor of horror films. It is sure that many movie makers will start following this film from now in this genre.
