![]() Lingaa Movie Review | Disappointing Rajini MovieFilm : Lingaa Cast : Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushkha Shetty, Santhanam, Jagapathi Babu, K.Viswanath and others. Music : AR Rehman Produced by : Rockline Venkatesh Directed by : KS Ravikumar Censor Certificate : U Duration : 175 Minutes Story : Lingeswara (Rajinikanth) who is a collector of Singanoor plans to build a dam to save the village from the drought situations and the water scarcity. But one day he resigns from his post. Later, King of Gadwal Lingeswara plans to build Singanoor dam and completes it with a lot of difficulty. But due to a misunderstanding villagers lock the temple and after 70 years, the villagers realize the importance of reopening the Temple with the descendant of Lingeswara and sends Anushkha. Who is Lingeswara’s heir? Will Lingeswara’s heir bring the villagers out from struggles? Why did the villagers lock the temple? The answers for these questions will form the rest of the story. Performances : Rajinikanth’s one man show is Lingaa and Superstar rocked with his performance. But the director has not used any of the mannerisms of Rajinikanth in the film and that is a disappointment. On a whole, it’s entertaining performance from Rajini. Anushkha Shetty looked very beautiful in this film. She has got a glamorous role in the film and Anushkha lived up to the expectations in the role of a journalist. Sonakshi Sinha has played a village girl role in the film and she acted well. The dubbing suited her well. Hope she gets more roles in Tamil and Telugu from now. Jagapathi Babu Role impresses only if we have low expectations. Though he plays a negative role, it was not designed well and disappoints us. The comedians like Santhanam, Karuna and Brahmanandam tried to bring laughs but they are partially succeeded. Plus Points : Rajinikanth Cinematography BGM Minus Points : Stunts Story Direction Lingaa From Reviewer View : Lingaa movie released today as a birthday gift to Superstar Rajinikanth. Lingaa released with a lot of expectations and Superstar Rajinikanth played a dual role in the film. Superstar has tried a different getup in the film he looked stylish for the first time after a long time and the credits to be given to the cinematographer Ratnavelu. As Rajini said, cinematographer is successful in showing Rajini as young but failed to show him handsome. Period! Mainly, the technical department of the film has done a very good job. The cinematographer Randy Ratnavelu has picturized the film in a beautiful way and his work is appreciable and it’s an adding asset for this prestigious film. The animation and VFX department members also designed the works in an entertaining way. The train fight is an example to appreciate their work. The music in the film is composed by AR Rehman but the music is not up to the expectations. Only a few songs are hummable and pleasant. But Rehman does magic with the back ground score as well as Re-recording. The BGM has come out very well and that was an outstanding effort from Rehman which supported the scenes in the film in a brilliant way. The performance by the lead actors is good and KS Ravikumar is successful in bringing out the best from his actors. Coming to the story and screenplay, here is the main problem as the director was in confusion as how to present his story line. The screenplay has loopholes. The pace is a big problem with the film. The first half is good and entertaining but the second half of the film is dragged and boring. The flashback of the film was shot very well. The story has few resemblances with Indra and there is also a social message which was dominated by the other factors at the end. The director failed to present a full meal. Lingaa is a big letdown for the movie lovers and many of the Rajinikanth fans also expressing the same. They are unable to take this film as they have completely disappointed with what they saw on the screen. If you believe that anything is possible with Rajinikanth films, you might like the film and this film can be watched once. First Half : Good Second Half : Boring ANDHRAVILAS single line verdict : Lingaa is a one man show of Rajinikanth but it fails to keep our expectations. It’s a one-time watch for Superstar.
