KALKI REVIEW & RATING
Cast: Rajasekhar, Adah Sharma, Nandita Swetha, Poojitha Ponnada, Scarlett Wilson, Rahul Ramakrishna, Nasser, Ashutosh Rana, Siddhu Jonnalagadda
Kalki is set in the Kollapur Village of Telangana where are there are two rival factions. In a fight out between them, a person called Sekhar Babu gets killed. Kalki (Rajasekhar), a strict Police Officer is appointed to deal with the case. But as the investigation progresses, more layers surface bringing more twists to the story. What is that? Who is behind the murder? What happens next? forms the rest of the story.
Rajasekhar is an easy fit as a Police Officer but age is clearly seen in many places despite the best efforts of the team. They have used CG extensively to cover up his age and dupes are also used. Adah Sharma is okay in a little role while Nanditha Swetha shines in a role with substance. Ashutosh Rana is effective as the baddie. Rahul Ramakrishna’s getup looked a bit over and he is okay. Poojitha Ponnada and Siddhu Jonnalagadda are good.
Prashanth Varma did a good job with the story but struggled with the execution particularly in the first half. The screenplay is good but he should have not tried too much in the name of suspense. We do not know why so many characters come and go. However, things settle down in the second half. The camera work has been exemplary while the background score is Top Notch. The music should have been better. Production Values are superb.
The first half of this investigative thriller lags too much and gives you a below average feeling. The movie, however, clicks in the second half. If not for the twists towards the end of the film, the second half would have disappointed. Finally, Kalki is an Okay watch but we need to have the patience to sit through a slow first half.
