Mayabazar is the greatest film in Indian Cinema
Mayabazar, starring NTR, ANR, Savitri, SV Ranga Rao and many other stalwarts, has been voted as the greatest film of all times, in a poll conducted by CNN-IBN.,
The poll was a part of Indian Cinema’s 100th anniversary and Mayabazar was one amongst the top 100 films selected from several film industries across the country. The poll climaxed with Mayabazaar earning a swooshing 16,960 votes, which was 23.91% of the total votes cast in the poll.
Mayabazar, a mythological Telugu film released in 1957, is regarded as one of the classics that the Indian Cinema has ever produced. It has been dubbed in Kannada and remade in Tamil. A digitally remastered colour version of the same was released in 2010.Having one of the finest music given by Saluri Rajeswara Rao (uncredited) and Ghantasala, this movie has also received the highest award for films in India- Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1986.
In this poll, Mayabazaar managed to beat other extremely popular Hindi films like Sholay and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Shiva (Nagarjuna-Amala starrer Telugu movie) bagged a position in the top ten while Malayalam flicks Manichitrathazhu and Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha stood on the second and third positions respectively.
