Hyderabad to be Common Capital for 10 Years
New Delhi: Fifty six years of Telangana dream is coming true. UPA government announced separate Telangana state. Telangana will be the 29th state of India. Congress Working Committee unanimously agreed for the formation of Telangana government.
Congress Working Committee asked the central government to take necessary steps to form a separate Telangana state. It is decided that Hyderabad will be the common capital for both the states after separation for ten years. There will be discussion of distribution of water, electricity etc.
Congress Working Committee meeting was held in the residence of Sonia Gandhi for about one hour. Formal announcement about the formation of Telangana state was made in a press conference after that.
Earlier, UPA coordination committee meeting was held in the residence of Manmohan Singh which was attended by the leaders of UPA coalition government. They all unanimously decided in favor of Telangana.
Ajay Maken said that the decision of forming the Telangana state was taken after wide discussions. He said CWC is appealing to the congressmen to support the formation of Telangana.
There were oppositions from congress leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions but the congress party went ahead and took the decision in favor of Separate Telangana.
Telangana movement has a history of more than fifty years. Major ones were in 1969, 1972 and since 2000 onwards. Telangana state consists of ten districts. These are Hyderabad, Adilabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Warangal. Since three years, more than 1000 people have committed suicide for Telangana.
