Arjun(Gautham) is a student at Basanti Arts College. He falls for Roshini (Alisha Baig) in his very first sight. Their relation goes stronger with the time and become very close to each other. In the meanwhile, the terrorists in the Hyderabad kidnaps the students of the Basanti college including Arjun,Roshini and his friends. The rest of the story is all about how Arjun rescue the lives of his friends and his girl friend from the terrorists.
Goutham: He improved well as an actor compared to the previous flicks. His Performance in the movie added flavor to the movie. Entirely he did well in his role without any negative remarks.
Alisha Baig: Even though she was not beautiful in the movie, she was cute and appeared with her natural look in most of the scenes. Coming to her performance she did justice to her role.
Ranadir plays an important character as Abbas. He provided his best performance till date for this movie. Dhanush is limited to small role. Tanikella Bharini is scores with his performance and delivers best lines of the film. The girl acted as Swathi is all right in role. Rest of the characters support the lead cast perfectly.
Director Chaitanya Dantuluri who proved himself with his debut movie "Banam" has came up with a different script. The direction of the movie is good. He carried the both entertainment and serious emotions in the movie. The first half of the movie goes on with some class elements. The Scenes between hero and heroine were to be love by the viewers. The second half of the movie carries the main plot of the story. The sentiment scenes in the second half were good.
The BGM work done by Mani sharma is major asset for the film. Finally, due to lack of interesting scenes in the movie, it may show negative impact at the Box-office.
The dialogues are crisp and clean. The songs could have been better.
Basanti is a neat story but a faster pace and little punch could have done wonders to the film. Most of the scenes are loaded with light-hearted elements rather than emotional content.
Movie Rating: 2.25/5
