Story :
The much awaited film Auto Nagar Surya is finally out into the theatres with a lot of expectations and the film got postponed several times due to several problems. Coming to the story of Auto Nagar Surya, this is a story of every individual who fights for values and self-respect. ANS story is not completely new for us but the director treated it with present days’ situations.
ANS is the story of Surya(Naga Chaitanya) who resides in Auto Nagar of Vijayawada city. Surya do not like the system and he fights against the system for their existence, self-respect, implementation of Dignity of Labour and for keeping some values alive. In this process, he undergoes several struggles and problems put up by his opponents.
How did Surya manages to overcome all these odds cooks up the entire story of the film.
Review :
Auto Nagar Surya released with a lot of expectations as the film is being directed by Deva Katta and Naga Chaitanya is playing a full-fledged mass role for the first time. The director has written this story with a lot of frustration over the system. The story does not look fresh but we have already come across these stories earlier which show casted the revolutionary wars. But ANS also falls under the same category but the film is a bit different when compared with those routine rotten formula concepts.
Deva Katta is known for his dialogues and he penned a lot of good dialogues in the film that describes about the way of living as well as life. But the dialogues alone are not sufficient for a common viewer and the director let down the expectations from the first half itself. The first half of the film is very slow and dragging. A decent beginning for the film is not carried out well and the director wasted efforts in not completely concentrating the point of what he is going to tell. Some unwanted scenes and boring sequences, non-situational songs along with poor picturization made the first half to feel as OK. Few dialogues and music is good.
Chaitanya gave his best in the interval scenes. He did a brilliant job in those fight sequences and the pre interval and interval scenes of the first half are very well shot and Naga Chaitanya has shown a lot of maturity and improvement in his performance. Chaitanya did not disappoint us throughout the film but still we feel that Chaitanya can do well. The film is a director's show and Naga Chaitanya made himself comfortable in the role of Surya.
Samantha acted as Chaitanya’s Maradalu and she is okay in her role. Its neither a performance oriented role nor a glamour role but she could pull the audience to the theatres with her presence. And for this film, Chinmayi did not give voice for Samantha and Priyanka dubbed for Samantha in this film.
Sai Kumar is okay in his role.
The bad boys Ajay, Jayaprakash Reddy and the villain Madhu did justice for their roles in the movie.
Brahmanandam and Venu madhav comedy has no use in the film and no clue about why director picturized a song on Brahmanandam instead he can boost up the pace of the film. There is no much comedy in the film except few bits of Bharath and Brahmaji tried to bring laughs in the theatre.
The music and Back ground score by Anoop Rubens need a special mention and Anoop Rubens did an excellent job with re-recording. The cinematography is just good.
The second half of the film is also too boring. Gowtham Raju, the senior editor could have helped the director in trimming the unwanted scenes. Though there are few interesting scenes, the run time and boring scenes dominated it and the viewers keep on yawning in the theatres looking at their watches. The film’s technical values are not up to the mark and the production values are very poor. The duration is a major drawback of the film and the movie could have been trimmed a lot and the editing is a disadvantage and the makers failed to keep concentration on that.
Deva Katta is successful as a writer in this film but he failed as a director in managing all the departments and a loosely gripped script with poor screenplay disappoints the viewers. ANS is not the worth of your money.
Verdict :
Auto Nagar Surya is a film with Naga Chaitanya’s matured performance and Deva Katta’s fantastic dialogues but the film failed in providing a complete entertainment with a lot of loop holes in the script. The film ends up with an Average to Above Average flick. Try about thinking of other films that released this weekend.
